Dried boxwood has simply lost its water, so the leaves turn brittle. Preserved boxwood has had its water replaced with a glycerin solution, which keeps the leaves soft and flexible. Glycerin alone turns most foliage brown, so the green color is added during the process.
For outdoors, choose artificial. Preserved foliage is not made for rain or sun, and nothing preserved is guaranteed outside. For an open porch, look at artificial boxwood balls in an outdoor UV grade.
Where to put a preserved topiary
Pick a spot away from windows that get direct sun. Glass lets UV through, so a bright window counts as sun and fades the leaves. Keep it clear of heat vents, radiators and fireplaces too, because they dry it out.

How long does delivery take?
Allow 1 to 3 weeks for it to ship, because each piece is finished to order. We ship across the US and Canada. Smaller pieces go by parcel (UPS or FedEx) and large ones by freight. You have 15 days after delivery to return a piece.
