Why choose an artificial spiral tree
A spiral tree gives a doorway height and a strong outline with a single piece. These are boxwood and cypress spiral topiary, not the lighted wire cones sold at holiday time, and they stay green all year. The spirals here suit different places, some open sun and some indoors only, so each row starts with where the tree will stand.
An outdoor spiral tree for full sun
The single spiral is the full outdoor grade, made for sun all year. That makes it the one to choose for a door or a gate that gets the afternoon sun. It stands on a natural wood trunk with a weighted base.
Most people buy two. Order them together, because the green can vary slightly between dye batches. For a hotel or venue entrance, this spiral can also be ordered in a fire-safe version with the retardant built into the material, which meets NFPA 701.
A tall spiral cypress for covered entrances
At 10 ft, the spiral cypress suits a tall portico, a covered hotel entrance or a double-height porch. It is the lighter UV grade, which lasts about two and a half years in direct sun. Give it shade.
It comes on a weighted base, and shorter heights can be quoted. A tree this tall travels by freight and is quoted with delivery to your address. Plan a heavy planter too, because a tall spiral catches the wind.
Double spirals for lobbies and restaurants
The double spiral cypress has two strands twisting around each other, which gives it a tighter look than a single spiral. Both sizes are indoor only. They suit a hotel lobby, a restaurant entrance or a hallway, where they need no light at all.
Each stands on a metal pole frame with a weighted base, and the decorative pot is sold separately. Keep them back from a sunny window, since glass lets through the UV that fades plastic foliage. At about 14 in wide, one fits beside a host stand.
Questions about Spiral Topiary
Should I buy an artificial or a live spiral?
Live, if the spot is bright and someone will water and clip it. Everywhere else, an artificial spiral holds the same shape with a rinse now and then. Compare our live boxwood spirals.
Will the spiral shape sag over time?
No, because it does not grow, so there is nothing to clip back into shape. Outdoors, heavy snow and ice can bend or break a tall spiral, so brush the snow off after a storm.
Can an artificial spiral go outside?
Two of the four can. The single spiral is the full outdoor grade, for sun all year. The 10 ft spiral cypress is the lighter UV grade, better in part shade. The two double spiral cypress are indoor only.
How tall should a spiral be for my front door?
Tall enough that the tips reach half the door’s height or more, counting the pot. A spiral much shorter than that reads as a shrub. Send us the door height and we will suggest a size.
Do artificial spirals come with a pot?
No. They come on a weighted base, and the decorative pot is sold separately. Tell us the planter you have and we will confirm the fit, or choose one from our planters.
Can I get a spiral in a custom height?
