A flock of topiary sheep does what one animal cannot: it fills a lawn. The herd photographed on the grounds of a governor’s mansion is set out across a field with heads down, and from the road it reads as livestock.
Each sheep is hand welded from steel, powder coated, then packed with sphagnum moss over the frame. They are built grazing, standing and lying so a group has variety instead of six copies of one pose, and every animal carries a pole that drives into the ground to hold it upright and level. The herd is drawn and approved before fabrication starts, which is what the CAD sheets in this gallery are.
They go on open lawn, across resort and hotel grounds, on commercial landscapes and in front of a house. For December the same sheep are wrapped in white string lights, as in the photograph.
Moss is the part that asks for attention. Mist it through dry weather, keep the group in partial shade where you can, and look it over during the season. If you would rather water nothing, the same frames take UV-rated artificial boxwood instead. Send us the herd size and the site and we will quote it.
