A cat is built around one curve.
A cat is built around one continuous line: the curl of a sleeping cat, or the arch of a stretching one. Get that line right and it needs almost no detail. Get it wrong and no detail will save it. A swan’s neck is the same problem at a larger size.
On a small cat, the moss matters as much as the frame. At nine inches you are close enough to see the fiber as well as the shape.
Other small mossed pieces are in mossed animal topiary, and the same curve at full size is in swan topiary.
Care takes a mister and not much else.
Mist a mossed piece through dry spells and refresh the moss every year or so. A bare frame needs nothing until you decide to plant it. Turf and artificial pieces need only an occasional rinse: no watering, no trimming, no seasonal work.
Underneath is galvanized steel, which lasts for decades outdoors.
The care pages go through each material in full, and this eight-year-old swan shows what a restoration looks like.
