Two mounds of preserved juniper, Juniperus procumbens, mounted on a length of California grape wood and set into a black mango wood pot. It stands about 14 to 16 inches tall and 12 to 14 inches across, with mood moss and gravel dressed over the surface.
Grape wood is used because it grows into its own crooked shape rather than being carved into one. The trunk line on each tree is therefore different, and so is the way the two mounds sit above it.
The juniper is a live plant that was preserved at maturity, so it holds its color and its texture without water, soil or light. Nothing needs pruning. Keep it indoors and out of direct sun and it holds for years.
