This Senshi bonsai brings the layered canopy and gnarled trunk shape of a classic bonsai to a large scale: 48 inches tall by 36 inches wide, set in a wood barrel planter bound with metal bands.
The foliage is real preserved juniper, manicured to maturity and preserved rather than grown live, so it holds its shape and color without watering, feeding, or pruning. The trunk is natural grape wood, and because both the juniper and the wood are grown and shaped individually, no two finished pieces look exactly alike.
At this scale, it reads as a substantial indoor piece: suited to an entryway, a pedestal display, or a lobby where a tall, sculptural tree shape has room to be seen from more than one angle. Since it’s preserved rather than living, it doesn’t need bright light either, which opens up placement options a live bonsai wouldn’t allow.
