The cantaro is an old water-carrying shape: a wide body, a shoulder that turns in, and a mouth narrower than the belly but still generous at 26 inches. Thirty across, 35 tall.
It is the most forgiving size in the range. A 26 inch mouth takes most of what we grow between three and four and a half feet, and the turned shoulder holds foliage up rather than letting it spill straight over the edge, which keeps a ball reading as a ball. Whatever goes in it, which boxwood survives in a pot decides how the next decade goes.
Heirloom white, verdigris or aegean sea — the last of those a textured glaze with small pits and craters, which is the finish as intended. The maker also lists this one as a single large pot; same piece. Delivered by freight on a pallet. We work out the delivery cost and agree it with you before the piece ships, so nothing is charged until you have the figure.
