The big plants, crated upright.
Everything on this shelf is too tall or wide for a parcel van: the large spirals, tall cones and estate pieces. They travel upright by LTL freight, braced on custom pallets or in crates with moisture-retaining packing, and the carrier calls you to arrange the delivery window.
The whole journey — costs, the tailgate lift, and what to do the day it arrives — is on the delivery page.

How does a large live plant actually travel?
Upright, braced, and never squeezed. Pieces too tall or wide for parcel carriers are packed on custom pallets or in reinforced crates, secured with moisture-retaining material around the root ball and protective bracing against the foliage, then shipped with carriers experienced in live horticultural freight. The plant arrives hydrated and in shape because it rode the whole way standing.
What should I prepare for a freight delivery?
- A signer — freight needs someone there for the scheduled window
- Unloading — tell us in advance if you need a tailgate lift; the carrier bills it
- Inspection before signature — note any damage on every copy of the receipt, keep yours, and call us within 24 hours
Which pieces ship this way?
Live cones and spirals over about 42 inches, the tall ball-on-stem specimens, and estate-scale plants. Everything shorter ships UPS Ground in custom boxes. The full journey, costs included, is on delivery & receiving.
Why does riding upright matter so much?
Because a tall plant laid down for three days arrives as a different plant: soil shifts off the roots, branches take the load the trunk should carry, and moisture drains to one side of the ball. Upright in a braced crate, the root ball stays packed and evenly damp and the canopy carries no weight at all — which is why the crate costs what it costs, and why we will not ship a seven-foot spiral any other way.
