Air plants like this one have their own irregular, spiky rosette shape, so no two blocks look quite the same.
It needs no soil and very little watering, which suits small spaces: a desk, shelf or windowsill, where a potted plant would be more upkeep than the spot is worth. Give it bright, indirect light and keep it out of harsh midday sun; a warm room between 50°F and 90°F suits it, and it shouldn’t sit below 35°F for long.
To keep it healthy, mist it two to three times a week, covering all sides of the leaves, and use a humidifier or a pebble tray if your home runs dry: the plant itself shouldn’t sit directly in standing water. Feed it a diluted bromeliad or epiphyte fertilizer about every other month.
