A bonsai looks like an old tree shrunk to fit a room, and that shape is what people want on a desk or a lobby table. A living juniper bonsai cannot give you that indoors, because it needs sun and a cold winter outside. A preserved one can. Many people searching for a fake bonsai tree want one thing: a tree that needs no care and still looks right up close. Most of ours are preserved juniper instead of plastic. The foliage is real, and it sits on natural grape wood that grew into its own twists.
No two are alike. The trunk line and the spread of the foliage differ from piece to piece, so the photo shows one example. Most, not all: ask us before ordering the cedar or the 160 cm bonsai.
A bonsai for a desk or a counter
The small sizes, about 10 to 22 inches tall, suit a desk, a shelf or a reception counter. Many arrive already set in a bowl or a ceramic pot with moss and stones, ready to put down.
Measure the width too. A bonsai spreads sideways, and the single mound is about as wide as it is tall. Because it needs no daylight, it does as well in an inside office as it does near a window, and better than it would in direct sun.
A large bonsai tree for a lobby floor
The floor-standing bonsai run from 48 inches to 6 ft. One gives a lobby, a spa or a restaurant entrance a strong focal point, and nobody has to water it.
Leave room around a big piece. The 6 ft Kage spreads more than three feet wide, so it needs a clear patch of floor rather than a tight corner. Large bonsai go by freight and are quoted with delivery included. Allow 1 to 3 weeks, because each one is finished to order.
Bonsai care: dust it, never water it
Preserved bonsai need dusting and nothing else. Use a feather duster, or a hair dryer on the cool setting, now and then. Never water one, and never trim it.

Is a preserved bonsai a real tree?
Yes, the foliage is real. It is mostly juniper, preserved with food-grade glycerin and set on natural wood. It is no longer alive, so it will not grow and takes no water. Preserved, artificial or live compares it with the other kinds.
Do bonsai topiaries need any care?
Only dusting, with a feather duster or a hair dryer on cool. There is nothing to water or trim. Keep it out of direct sun and away from heat vents, and avoid very humid rooms, where the foliage can drip.
Can a preserved bonsai go outside?
No. The bonsai here are for indoor use only. Rain, outdoor damp and direct sun all shorten the life of preserved foliage, and nothing preserved is guaranteed outdoors.
How long does a preserved bonsai last?
Seven years or more indoors, kept out of direct sun and away from damp. Sun fades the foliage, and very dry air near a heater makes it brittle.
Will mine look like the photograph?
Close, but not identical. Many of these sit on natural grape wood, which grows into its own shape. So the trunk line and the spread of the foliage differ from piece to piece. The photograph shows one example, not the one that will arrive.
What is the difference between bonsai and topiary?
A bonsai is a small tree trained in a shallow pot to look like an old tree in miniature. A topiary is a plant clipped into a set shape. These pieces use preserved foliage in the bonsai style, so they need no training or clipping.
How is a large bonsai delivered?
