A 9-foot rearing lion topiary, made to order over a welded steel frame. The pose lifts the whole figure onto its hind legs, so the head sits well above eye level.
At this height it reads as an entrance piece: a forecourt, a gate, or the end of an avenue, where a standing lion would be absorbed into the surrounding planting but a rearing one holds the space.
A sculpture this size is engineered before it is built. The frame has to carry the pose, the weight, and the wind load once it stands outdoors, so the welding and bracing are worked out to the final dimensions before fabrication starts.
