Description

Thick spirals cut into a living boxwood, deep enough that the shape reads from the far end of a drive. The exposed foliage on this spiral topiary measures 58 to 61 inches, and it comes on a root ball for planting out.

Each spiral is shaped by hand as the plant grows. Cutting that deep opens the trunk between the coils, so you see the structure of the plant along with the foliage.

Plant it in the ground beside a front door, along a path, or in a courtyard bed. It also works in a large urn or planter on a patio, which lifts the spiral and gives it a base to stand on.

Boxwood is evergreen, so the color holds through winter. Give it bright indirect light or partial sun. Water consistently, letting the topsoil dry slightly between waterings, and shelter it from extreme heat or frost while it establishes. Trim new growth back to the cut line whenever the coils start to blur.

A topiary this size travels by LTL truck. Call for pricing and a freight quote to your address.

Potted outdoors? Roots in a pot get about one zone colder in winter than roots in the ground, so choose a plant rated one zone colder than yours, or move the pot somewhere sheltered for the hard freezes.
