A cow at 60 inches, five feet of animal standing in a garden, a courtyard or an open plaza. It starts in our workshop as a steel frame, the whole body drawn in welded wire and set on a base. The frame is what carries the anatomy: the drop of the belly, the set of the shoulder, the low swing of the head. Everything after that is cladding, and the frame photograph above shows exactly what sits underneath.
The cows shown here were built for different sites. One is packed with sphagnum moss and stands on a lawn against a clipped hedge. Another is clad in outdoor boxwood foliage on a timber base with ground spotlights, out in the open on a public plaza in Stamford, Connecticut, against brick and paving.
Commission work is priced per piece. Tell us where the cow will stand, whether it is going indoors or outside, and how much of the year it needs to look right. We quote the cow and its delivery together, so the full cost is settled before anything is charged.
