A 20 inch artificial boxwood ball, built on metal framing with a support rod so it holds a true sphere outdoors instead of settling out of shape. The foliage is packed dense, light and dark leaves mixed the way a clipped hedge shows fresh growth against old, and at a few paces the eye stops asking. It is made for interior and exterior positions alike, and fire-retardant treatment can be specified at order for venues that require it.
The case for artificial here is the site rather than the taste. A north-facing doorway, a rooftop planter over a membrane, a lobby lit by one skylight, a restaurant terrace that nobody has time to water in August: those are the places where a live boxwood ball goes thin and this one does not. Drop it into a planter, flank an entrance with them, or line a terrace at even spacing.
We stock this ball rather than grow it. Live clipped topiary and custom shaped work come out of the workshop and are handled separately.
