Trade show build

The PGA Show Booth

The brief

The PGA Show fills 1.1 million square feet with more than a thousand exhibitors. A stand in that much competition has one job before it has any other: stop somebody who was walking somewhere else.

The second job is less obvious and harder. Whatever stops them on the first morning has to still be doing it on the last afternoon, with nobody tending it in between — which rules out cut flowers and live planting before the design starts.

A trade stand has to survive being handled all day. That is the same test the preserved range is built to pass.

On the floor

What went into the booth.

A green wall to be seen across the hall, sculpture for height, and one object people wanted to be photographed with.

The PGA Show Booth — The build

The build

Preserved green wall, sculpted topiary, faux palms and drapery framing the space like a terrace. Every element is modular, because setup and teardown are part of the brief at a show.

The green wall

Accented with florals and lit warm from within — the focal point, and the thing visible from across the hall over the tops of other stands.

The PGA Show Booth — The turf chair

The turf chair

A full-size seat upholstered in artificial turf. It is the piece that made the booth work: people queued to sit in it, and a queue is a conversation.

Everything on that stand ships and re-ships without a greenhouse at either end — the artificial range is built for exactly that.

A stand needs one object people want to be pictured with. Everything else is the setting for it.
Preserved and artificial foliage is what makes a four-day build possible: it holds colour without water or daylight, stays crisp under convention-hall lighting, and packs down without wilting. If you exhibit, or want a photo moment at a launch or a venue, start at custom topiary for events or call 866-306-1020.
