Orlando Garden Show

The Orlando Garden Show

A stand for an audience that knows plants — mossed animal families, air plants on driftwood, and preserved moss wall art.

The brief

A garden show is a harder room than a trade booth. The people walking past grow things, so the work gets picked up, turned over and looked at closely — and anything tired or synthetic-looking is spotted immediately.

So the stand led with the material rather than the display: green moss, real driftwood, and preserved panels that hold colour without water or light.

Growers handle what they are considering. The pieces that survive that test are in mossed animal topiary.

On the stand

What we took.

Three product lines, chosen because they survive being examined.

The Orlando Garden Show — Mossed animal families
01

Mossed animal families

The centre of the stand. The moss comes from the mountains of Oregon — green enough that a grower can tell across a hall, and the reason a mossed piece can be planted into later.

The Orlando Garden Show — Air plants on driftwood
02

Air plants on driftwood

Tillandsias mounted on natural driftwood: no soil, no pot, and a piece of wood that is different every time. These were the things visitors picked up.

The Orlando Garden Show — Preserved moss wall art
03

Preserved moss wall art

Panels that hold their colour with no water and no daylight — the one green thing that works on an interior wall with no window.

The preserved panels and air-plant work shown on the stand live in air plants and wall art.

At a garden show, people handle what they are considering.
The mossed animals are in mossed animal topiary, the preserved panels in living wall art, and the boxwood balls in topiary balls.
