The brief
A stand at the PGA Show has to stop somebody who was walking somewhere else. That is hard, because the show fills 1.1 million square feet with more than a thousand exhibitors.
It also has to keep doing that until the last afternoon, with nobody tending it. That ruled out cut flowers and live planting before the design started.
A trade stand gets handled all day. The preserved range is built for that kind of use.
On the floor
What went into the booth.
A green wall to be seen across the hall, sculpture for height, and one object people wanted to be photographed with.
The build
A preserved green wall, sculpted topiary, faux palms and drapery, set up to frame the space like a terrace. Every element is modular, because setup and teardown are part of the brief at a show.
The green wall
Florals and warm lighting from inside made the green wall the focal point. You could see it from across the hall, over the tops of other stands.
The turf chair
A full-size seat upholstered in artificial turf. People queued to sit in it, and every queue started a conversation.
Everything on that stand can ship and ship again with no greenhouse at either end, like the rest of our artificial range.
A stand needs one object people want to be pictured with. Everything else is the setting for it.
The photo moment
The chair did the work.
