Description

Lifesize Buffalo – Bison Frame

This guy is special, and we will share why. )

  1. He is lifesize (7 feet tall x 9 feet long(
  2. His horns, eyes, and mouth are made of a foam coat epoxy to show the detail that would not look so great if we applied boxwood foliage
  3. This is our best design yet! He has a large barrel-shaped body, about 3.5 feet wide, meant for moss stuffing. To avoid the tedious task of filling the entire belly with moss, we built an internal wire frame. This lets us limit moss placement to just a 6-inch layer around the outer edge, keeping the inside hollow. That means less moss, less work, and lower costs—especially helpful for large-scale topiary art. 😊

A Sculptural Presence for Landscapes of Distinction

In the language of monumental art, few forms speak with the quiet authority of the American bison. Its silhouette — broad, grounded, and timeless — has long symbolized endurance, dignity, and the vastness of open land. This lifesize buffalo topiary frame captures that presence with the poise of a gallery sculpture, inviting viewers not simply to observe, but to experience.

A Study in Form and Structure

Crafted at full scale, the frame stands approximately seven feet tall and nine feet long, its proportions echoing the natural weight and rhythm of the animal. The curvature of the hump, the forward‑leaning stance, and the gentle arc of the horns are shaped with sculptural intention, creating a piece that feels both powerful and contemplative.

Foam‑coat epoxy detailing defines the facial features — eyes, muzzle, and horn structure — preserving expression even when enveloped in foliage. This interplay between rigid form and living texture creates a dynamic tension reminiscent of mixed‑media installation art.

An Architectural Approach to Topiary

At the heart of the design is a 3.5‑foot‑wide internal barrel frame engineered for efficient moss application. Only the outer six inches require filling, reducing material use while maintaining a lush, full silhouette. The result is a structure that balances artistic ambition with thoughtful practicality.

The wire framework is built for longevity, allowing the piece to evolve with the seasons. Whether adorned with fresh moss, preserved greenery, or left as a bare sculptural form, the buffalo maintains its commanding presence.

A Centerpiece for Curated Spaces

This piece is designed for environments that value artistry as much as landscaping — botanical gardens, museum grounds, luxury estates, ranch entrances, and public installations. Its scale invites interaction; its form invites reflection.

Placed alone, it becomes a solitary figure in a landscape. Positioned in a series, it transforms into a narrative — a herd in motion, a sculptural procession, a living exhibition.

Where Nature and Art Converge

The Lifesize Buffalo/Bison Frame is more than a topiary structure. It is a gesture toward the wild, a celebration of craftsmanship, and a statement of aesthetic intent. It stands at the intersection of horticulture and fine art, ready to anchor any space with its quiet, monumental grace.
