This specific type of environment causes the plant to dehydrate, and once it has, the plant then soaks up the applied glycerin solution and re-hydrates. Additionally, on occasion and FDA FDA-approved food dye will be used in an effort to give the plant a specified or further enhanced color to make it look more natural. In terms of maintaining the upkeep of this plant is highly recommended that the plant not be placed outside, not be placed in direct sunlight, nor be given any water as each of these conditions may greatly reduce the 7+ year lifespan of this plant.
