{"id":19969,"date":"2012-05-27T20:19:52","date_gmt":"2012-05-27T20:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/topiarytree.net\/blog\/?p=8"},"modified":"2025-10-03T11:38:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T11:38:17","slug":"how-to-care-for-your-topiary-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/topiarytree.net\/?p=19969","title":{"rendered":"How to Care for Your Topiary Tree?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"CENTER\"><strong>WATERING:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">Most plants prefer to be kept evenly moist, but not<br \/>\nsoaking wet.\u00a0 Ivy, Olives, Euonymus and the Herbs prefer to dry<br \/>\nslightly before being watered.\u00a0 Feel the soil often to determine<br \/>\nwhen to water.\u00a0 Carefully pour water on the surface of the soil<br \/>\nuntil some drains out the bottom.\u00a0 Do not allow any plant to<br \/>\nstand in water.<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><strong>LIGHT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">Most plants require a fair bit of light when placed indoors.<br \/>\nNote that placement directly in a west or south facing window can<br \/>\nbe too much light and heat for most plants and will require very<br \/>\nfrequent watering.\u00a0 Filtered light from these windows is perfect,<br \/>\nhowever, as is placement in a north or east facing window.\u00a0 If no<br \/>\nnatural light is available, artificial light no further than one foot<br \/>\naway is fine, as long as it is on at least eight hours a day. During<br \/>\nthe summer, placement of your plants in a shaded outdoor porch<br \/>\nor patio is very beneficial as long as no direct afternoon sun is<br \/>\nreceived.<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><strong>FERTILIZER:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">Fertilize perhaps monthly while the plant is actively<br \/>\ngrowing following the manufacturer\u2019s instructions.\u00a0 Don\u2019t fertilize<br \/>\na stressed plant as this will further stress the plant\u2019s roots.<br \/>\nPESTS: Actively monitor your plants for signs of insects or<br \/>\ndisease.\u00a0 If caught early, most pests can be removed by simply<br \/>\nsquishing, rinsing, wiping or minor pruning.\u00a0 The best preventive<br \/>\nmeasure is to rinse the entire plant (not the soil) in cool water<br \/>\nweekly.\u00a0 The act of rinsing or sprinkling the leaves regularly helps<br \/>\nto keep them clean, green and free of insects.\u00a0 If an infestation<br \/>\ndoes occur use an appropriate pesticide and follow the<br \/>\nmanufacturer\u2019s instructions.<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><strong>REPOTTING:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">Once the plant is root bound, or just perhaps dries<br \/>\nout too quickly to easily maintain, you may repot into a slightly<br \/>\nlarger pot, being careful not to over\u2013 or under-water the plant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WATERING: Most plants prefer to be kept evenly moist, but not soaking wet.\u00a0 Ivy, Olives, Euonymus and the Herbs prefer to dry slightly before being watered.\u00a0 Feel the soil often<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"aside","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[257],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-19969","post","type-post","status-publish","format-aside","hentry","category-how-tos","post_format-post-format-aside"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>How to Care for Your Topiary Tree? - TOPIARYTREE.NET<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Expert advice on caring for your topiary tree to ensure it thrives and stays beautiful year-round.
